The Matrix Runs On Windows

Wow, all I can say is wow.. This is funny.

A Life Worth Living

Ready To Rock
I am so thankful for my position, leaders, mentors and people God has put in my path to be involved with. To learn from, to teach, be guided, and guide. Today we celebrated Brookwoods 15th anniversary, which I have been there for 14 of those years! I have grown up with this family and seen amazing people speak into my life and build me to be the person I am today. I am far from perfect but I love God, adore my Wife, and am blessed in more ways that I can express in one blog. It was a great day to see all of the folks from our church family join together as one to worship what God has done, and what he will continue to do.

The part God has me plugged into and allows me to be apart of is the student worship bands. We have over 20 students now plugged into different bands and growing rapidly. He is letting them use their talents to praise Him and teaching them what worship is about and equipping them to be worship leaders in their colleges, schools and churches. I am so thankful God has included me in this plan. I know that I can’t do any of it on my own, but only by God’s divine plan and purpose will it continue to grow. So step back from your own agenda and see what God has planned for you.

This is a little piece of gold for my soul I will hold close to my heart always! I left my video camera in the green room and some of the band decided to be silly and record this video:

These guys have a heart for God and for other people. They are creative, passionate and have only just begun to live their lives. I am blessed to be a part of their journey and will look back on this clip and others like it. We deal with hard things, we aren’t all perfect, but we are all given grace and by that we can have joy like this that will continue on for eternity. It won’t be short lived, it won’t be forgotten. I am pretty sure I’ll be remembering this very moment in heaven and savoring the gift it was from God.

I want to live a life that fills up other people and that is full of joy, even in the pain. We have had many hardships in our church over even just the past couple of weeks, and this day all of that was forgotten, and God was praised through all the craziness!

My Mom. Moyo(Heart) for Africa

A few years back my mother went to Africa, Kenya and Tanzania, and had dreamed about going since she was a young girl. When she went she saw the poverty, the amazing hearts, the beautiful places surrounded by waist, and children who needed help. After she returned she shared her passion with everyone, including me, telling me I had to go to truly understand. I told her no chance, but I’d support her in Africa, and within six months I was going as an intern with BigStuf Camps teamed up with Compassion International. If God wants you somewhere he will make sure you are there, as long as you are wiling.

My mom will be returning to Africa on her Birthday, October 16th and is asking for mostly prayers, but if you want to support financially you can as well. Check out her post about what she will be doing. P.S. I went to the exact same places my mom did when she went to Africa, it was a very cool thing to see and changed my heart forever!

“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” Hellen Keller

My adventure will begin on October 16. Once again I will be walking on Kenyan soil. As one of the leaders for WOW (Widows and Orphans of the World) I will be attending a conference with the widows we are working with and some dignitaries from the Kenyan government. This conference will begin on Oct. 22. WOW needs the government to be supportive and in agreement with our vision for it’s widows.

We will be accompanied by the Kenyan WOW representatives, Mrs Lucy and Mickey. Mrs. Lucy runs an orphanage that houses over two hundred children. She also operates a school for over 600 children from the surrounding area She is an awesome woman who believes that all things are possible through Christ. Her visions for Africa have no boundaries. She gives hope and encouragement to everyone who cross her path.
Mickey is a pastor who also runs a preschool for the children of the slums. He will be taking us into the slums to meet the children and their parents. Aids is rampant in Africa. Many of the widows there have lost their husbands and family members to this dreadful disease. The treatment for Aids is costly and out of reach for most of the people of Africa.

The recent killings in the slums of Nairobi took the lives of over 800 men. The widows who are left behind are in hopeless situations. WOW wants to help them find ways to take care of themselves and their children. Please keep them in your prayers. The rent for a one room shack (I do mean shack) is around 15 dollars a month. It sounds like nothing to us, but it is overwhelming to them. The cost of living since the political uprising has increased 40%. Life has become a challenge for these women. They must learn a way to earn money.

Mickey will be taking us to the island of the Suba people. They live without electricty and technology. They saw their first motorized vechile on the island in March of 2007. The roads they are trying to build have not yet been completed, so the vechile did not go very far. The population of the island is 30,000. Fishing is the way most make their limited income. Aids, malaria and other proverty illnesses have taken the lives of many at young ages. Mickey wants WOW to consider putting in an orphange for the many children
whose parents died of aids.

I have been blessed with a wonderful life and the greatest children a parent could pray for. They have all become awesome human beings with skills and passions that are greater than I could ever hope for. To say the least, I am proud of my family. My husband is one of the most compassionate men on the planet. He has taught me more than he knows and has always supported me in all things. I love him more than I thought was possible.

This is what I wish for the widows. To have familes that are doing great things and living full lives filled with hope and promise. With help from WOW, this could be a possiblity for them.

I am requesting your prayers for WOW and what we are doing in Africa. Finacial support for my trip would be greatly appreciated. I promise to be a good steward to anything that you feel led to give. Please remember to pray for us (the leaders of WOW ) by name.
We are Linda, Angela, Sharon, Claire, Lucy and Mickey. May the power and glory of Christ be spread all over Africa and the world. We serve a mighty God, and through him, all things are possible.

So please send up your prayers for her safety and for God to be seen in everything they do by the people in Africa!

ALSO. If you have a heart for Africa I encourage you to check out A Night For Africa featuring BigStuf creator Lanny Dohono and “You Might Be A Redneck”
Jeff Foxworthy. Check out what they are doing and how we can impact the heart of Africa!

Father & Friend Bathroom Cover

This song is great, it’s meant for two parts but I wanted to cover. I will be honest, I should have done one more take, but check this out and let me know what you think!

Youtube Spurs Music Creativity

I believe that there is more creativity on youtube with music than there is in a lot of places. It’s not unoriginal to take an idea of video looping and take it to a new level. Multi-track song editing and video editing is the new gig. This video is seriously amazing, and I wish I had the mind to be so creative and one day hope I can come up with something so clever. Enjoy. Also check out their youtube page PomplamooseMusic

You can purchase this song for .99 on iTunes HERE

Another youtube artist I hope to see music on iTunes very soon is Airto He sounds like Stevie Wonder and has just some amazing singing ability. I hope he keeps with the old style songs and I think he will do great. Amazing vocals and talented on many instruments as well. Here he is performing one of my favorite songs by Adele, “Chasing Pavements”

Aicha Aicha

Oh my, I was at a football game the other night and one of the girls in the homecoming court was announced and the name Aicha came through. It brought back memories of a skinny guy singing a song in his bedroom with his disney blankets and remarkebly disturbing dance moves. Anyways, it’s been a looong time since this video was out, and you probably have seen it before, but it’s still just as funny and awkward. I wonder what ever happened to this kid.
So here is Gelliemans “Aicha”

Give Up Yer Aul Sins.

These are some animations done to recordings from a schoolteacher asking her children in class to explain stories from the bible. Very warm stories, and funny to hear the kids interpretations.

LifeShare from Lifechurch.tv

Well, today I sat in on the first LifeShare Event featuring bloggers and folks from around the world. I think it is a cool idea and communicating to folks who are pretty plugged in virtually online, and through blogs. It was neat to see the folks over in London praying over different countries and missionaries around the world. The Lifechurch internet campus is pushing for folks to bring friends and to get people involved, which is awesome, and I’d love to see some of that creative genius that made Youversion create something for for the entire interwebs.

I’ll be keeping an eye on how this lifeshare thing spans out and what comes of it.

OMG. “You might as well not existed!” This is the best thing in the world!

Think Steve Fee’s “Broadcast” in a VERY literal way, then read on.

Ok, so lots of churches out there have not taken advantage of the Social Media Networking world and I’m beginning to think I should start to help motivate you to! I’ve shared some of this with people so we can be on the cutting edge of technology and putting our stuff out there to people who are lost and searching in a way that hasn’t yet happened. I know it might seem disconnected, but so is sitting and watching a pastor on a big screen being broadcasted from somewhere else. Not saying that’s wrong at all, in fact I’m saying it’s great, but is that really necessary with another tool we’ve been provided with?

There is a world of people out there online at any given moment who we can reach. I’m not saying go and shove religion in there face but be tactful. Start a Ustream.tv show on Sunday morning service, get a staff member to moderate the chat room and see what happens. I think you ABSOLUTELY need to let the chatroom be live. You will probably get folks saying mean things, but the world we live in is not all about taking in, but also about putting back in there own thoughts. It’s free, it may take up your bandwidth, but who really cares. I’ve seen a church with up to 8,000 viewers going live on ustream! Numbers aren’t important but it was more of the healing and God providing type messages. So that’s one step. Have meetings or whatever you need to do to start it up.

Live Blogging. I can guarantee you have more bloggers in your church than you could ever imagine. Why not take advantage of them blogging your message live, via twitter(also your church needs a twitter.com account PRONTO, not just telling services, but giving insight to how things are), or have them blog during the service. Yes, this means you need to provide wireless network to your members. If you don’t have a ton and don’t want to crash, find some dedicated bloggers/tweeters and set them up with a network p/w to give it a shot. Think of these as tools to reach the lost!

Pastors Blog. Man. All these mega churches are huge, which is amazing, but how often do you get to connect or let people connect with you as a pastor, youth minister, worship pastor, children’s minister, etc. I think most staff in a church should be putting themselves online as much as possible. If you don’t put content out, someone else might and it might not be what you want! Mega churches, especially with multi-campus being the new gig, have little opportunity to give people a connection with their pastors. So blog, at least once a week. Don’t make it all Holy Holy, change your life or here’s my opinion on this matter. Make it about your life. Where did you go with your family this summer, what is your favorite album you’ve been listening to all week, make it personal.

So that is some of the social networking tools churches should start using.
